Royal Call for Change | Miyawaki Method at Kanakakunnu Palace

In the very heart of Thiruvananthapuram city, Kerala's first micro-forest in the government sector was planted in the majestic Kanakakunnu Palace on the PMG – Vellayambalam road. The 5 cents of land lies between Sooryakanthi Auditorium and Agro-horticultural society and is now home to over 800 saplings belonging to 200 species of trees, subtrees, shrubs, creepers, and emergent trees. Lying amidst a megalopolis with shrinking forest cover, it acts as the perfect healing balm to reinforce the ideals of a greener and healthier planet. Urban settlements are the cornerstone around which crowdforesting can truly shine in this age of rampant global warming and climate change.
