The Indian Navy created a mini-dense forest at their naval base in Kochi with an aim of creating environmental awareness among the younger generation. The project was inaugurated at a formal ceremony by Vice Admiral A. K. Chawla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, with the planting of the first sapling at the naval base on 21 March 2019.
This Miyawaki forest has been developed on a 10-cent (400 sq. m) plot made available by the Navy. It is located next to the Navy Children’s School (Kochi) to remind the next generation about the importance of taking care of Nature.
